Dog Haus, the award-winning concept known for its chef-driven menu of gourmet burgers, brats and brews, announced another groundbreaking milestone in its expansion journey with the rollout of a 50-unit development deal along with the appointment of Chris Rigassio as president and chief development officer, and Garen Khodaverdian as chief operating officer. Beyond their franchisee deal and leadership roles, they also joined the brand’s partnership, alongside the company founders (Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and André Vener) and Michael Montagano.
Reporting directly to CEO, Michael Montagano, the seasoned franchise leaders will oversee the brand’s planned 1,500-unit expansion across new and existing markets — beginning immediately with their first location having just opened in San Fernando, California, earlier this spring.
“Chris and Garen bring an unmatched combination of operational excellence, franchisee experience and strategic vision to our table,” said Montagano. “I’ve known both for years and watched them build impressive portfolios as franchise operators and business leaders, and know they are the right partners to help take Dog Haus to the next level.”
Both Rigassio and Khodaverdian began their careers as part-time employees at Jersey Mike’s Subs, eventually rising to become successful multi-unit franchisees. Today, the pair operates over one hundred locations across multiple concepts, including Jersey Mike’s and Wingstop.
As president and CDO, Rigassio will spearhead the nationwide area director system, recruiting a blue-chip team of the country’s top and largest multi-unit operators from other leading fast casual concepts, supercharging the brand’s growth by overseeing the development of 15 defined geographic regions – with 100 territories per area director. Rigassio will implement comprehensive development initiatives designed to strengthen real estate selection, construction processes, while streamlining economic and timing aspects.
“Everything in life is about timing,” said Rigassio. “I was fortunate to be part of Jersey Mike’s and Wingstop during pivotal stages of their growth. After spending two years doing my due diligence on Dog Haus, I feel that same momentum here. The strength of its founders, Michael’s leadership, and the unique partnership with Jake Paul make our brand perfectly positioned for our new area director partners to lead Dog Haus’ explosive growth.”
With over 20 years in the industry, Khodaverdian will focus on long-term, sustainable growth for the brand — streamlining operations, improving efficiencies, managing costs and ensuring every guest enjoys the same exceptional Dog Haus experience, no matter the location. As the brand scales, Khodaverdian will double down on developing strong leaders and investing in teams so they feel supported, empowered and connected to the culture that makes Dog Haus unlike any other restaurant brand.
“Dog Haus has the DNA of a national powerhouse — an amazing menu, strong brand identity and an energized following,” said Khodaverdian. “What excites me most is the opportunity to scale this brand the right way by prioritizing consistency, operational strength and people-first leadership. We’re not just growing but rather elevating Dog Haus to show the country what this brand can truly become.”
The announcement marks a monumental milestone for Dog Haus as it continues to distinguish itself in the industry through its elevated menu, bold branding and strong franchisee community. With Rigassio and Khodaverdian now fully embedded in the brand’s leadership, ownership, and operational and development efforts, the company is entering its most ambitious expansion phase yet – reinforcing its mission to deliver craveable food, exceptional guest experiences and long-term value for franchisees.
“This is an unprecedented deal that bridges the gap between franchisor and franchisee, where economic and governance interests are truly aligned for the first time ever in our industry – we will all win together.” said Montagano.
