What It Is: Bobbie’s original, classic organic infant formula, made with organic skim milk
Age Range: 0-12 months
This is the formula that put Bobbie on the map, and it’s still an excellent choice if your baby doesn’t need the whole milk or gentle versions below. Organic nonfat milk and whey protein combine to create a 60:40 whey-to-casein ratio, identical to mature breast milk, which supports easy digestion. The macronutrient breakdown is roughly 57% carbohydrates, 28% fat, 11% protein, and 2% vitamins and minerals.
Lactose is the only carbohydrate, and there’s no palm oil, corn syrup, glucose solids, soy, or artificial ingredients. Fat comes from a blend of organic coconut oil, organic canola oil, and organic sunflower or safflower oil. Bobbie Organic Whole Milk
What It Is: The first USDA organic, whole milk-based infant formula made in the US

Unlike Original, which uses skim milk, Bobbie’s Whole Milk formula gets about 20% of its fat naturally from whole milk itself, with the rest coming from the same clean organic oil blend used in Original. That means less added vegetable oil overall, and a fat profile that’s closer to breast milk right out of the can.
Everything that makes Original great carries over here: the 60:40 whey-to-casein ratio, algae-based water-extracted DHA, and zero palm oil, soy oil, corn syrup, or maltodextrin. Lactose is the only carbohydrate.

What It Is: Bobbie’s most affordable whole milk formula, launched in October 2024

Before the Organic Whole Milk formula above existed, Bobbie launched this Grass-Fed Whole Milk formula as its first whole-milk option and its most budget-friendly formula to date. It’s made with whole milk from grass-fed cows that graze on pasture year-round, and roughly half of its total fatty acids are structurally similar to the palmitic and oleic acid found in breast milk. Like the rest of the lineup, it has a 60:40 whey-to-casein ratio, uses lactose as the only carbohydrate, and skips palm oil, corn syrup, and maltodextrin.
The main thing that separates this from Bobbie Organic Whole Milk is the ingredient sourcing: this formula uses mostly organic ingredients but not organic lactose, while the Organic Whole Milk formula uses organic whole milk and organic lactose throughout. If full organic certification matters to you, go with Organic Whole Milk. If you mainly want the digestive benefits of real whole milk fat at a lower price point, this is the one to try.

What It Is: Bobbie’s organic tolerance formula for gassy or fussy babies

Bobbie Organic Gentle is the only organic tolerance formula on the market made with 100% lactose. Most “gentle” formulas swap lactose for corn syrup solids or maltodextrin once the protein is partially broken down, since that’s cheaper to produce. Bobbie didn’t take that shortcut.
The formula uses 100% partially hydrolyzed whey protein, meaning the protein is already broken into smaller pieces that are easier for a sensitive tummy to digest. That can help with gas, fussiness, and spit-up without switching all the way to a fully hypoallergenic formula. It’s worth knowing this isn’t the same as an extensively hydrolyzed, hypoallergenic formula (like HiPP HA), so it’s meant for general fussiness, not a diagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy.

- Vitamin D Drops: USDA organic, vegan, Clean Label certified. Useful if your baby is getting some breast milk alongside formula, since breastfed babies need a separate Vitamin D source. Only 3 drops per day.
- Probiotic Drops: Contains 1 billion live cultures and can be mixed into anything. Since none of Bobbie’s formulas include added probiotics, this lets you add one in and control the dose based on what your baby needs.
What Makes Bobbie Different?
I honestly have been so impressed with Bobbie – mainly because of these things that apply to all of Bobbie’s formulas and sets them apart from the rest:
Algae-based DHA, not fish oil or hexane. Fish oil DHA (used by some European brands) introduces a potential allergen, can affect the smell of the formula, and carries a small mercury exposure risk. Bobbie’s water-extracted algae DHA avoids all four.
No palm oil. Palm oil has been linked in research to harder stools and reduced calcium and DHA absorption in some babies. Bobbie skips it entirely.
Made and tested in the US. Bobbie owns its manufacturing facility in Heath, Ohio, and every batch is third-party tested for heavy metals and contaminants before it ships.
No added prebiotics or probiotics, on purpose. This surprises some parents, so it’s worth explaining Bobbie’s reasoning: the naturally occurring lactose in their formulas already has mild prebiotic properties, and the research on added synthetic prebiotics (like HMOs) is mixed. A 2011 review from the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology found insufficient evidence to recommend routine use of prebiotic-supplemented formula, and more recent 2026 research on HMOs found no meaningful difference in fussiness, crying, colic, or growth. Rather than add something for the marketing claim, Bobbie sells probiotic drops separately so you can control the dose based on your baby’s needs.
Drawbacks Of Bobbie Baby Formula
Though there are many things that I love about Bobbie, there are a few things to consider, as no formula is perfect for every baby. Some potential drawbacks:
- On the pricier side compared to conventional American formulas, though still generally more affordable than importing European brands
- No added prebiotics or probiotics (see above for the reasoning, but you can always supplement separately)
- Not hypoallergenic. None of the four formulas are appropriate for a diagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy
- One stage per formula. Unlike European formulas with multiple stages by age, each Bobbie formula covers 0-12 months
- Not for premature babies. Bobbie is formulated for full-term, healthy infants; talk to your pediatrician about options if your baby was premature

For a baby who’s exclusively formula fed, expect to use roughly 8-10 cans a month, which puts annual cost in the $2,200-$2,800 range if you’re feeding exclusively for a full year (less if you’re combo feeding or supplementing).

How To Mix Bobbie Formula
- Wash your hands and use a clean bottle.
- Add warm filtered or cooled boiled water to the bottle first, then add the formula powder: 1 unpacked, level scoop per 2 fluid ounces of water. Water shouldn’t be warmer than 100°F.
- Shake for 30 seconds to mix, and serve immediately.
- Discard any unused formula after 1 hour.
How Does Bobbie Compare To Other Formula Brands?
Bobbie vs. HiPP: Both are organic with high-quality ingredients, DHA, and ARA, and neither has added sugar or corn syrup. The differences: Bobbie is made and FDA regulated in the US, while HiPP is made in Europe and regulated by the EU. Bobbie has one stage, HiPP has up to 4 age-based stages. HiPP includes prebiotics and probiotics; Bobbie doesn’t. HiPP contains palm oil, Bobbie doesn’t.
Bobbie vs. Similac: Both are American made with lactose as the primary carbohydrate and no syrup solids. Bobbie’s 60:40 whey-to-casein ratio matches breast milk more closely than Similac’s roughly 48:52 ratio. Bobbie vs. ByHeart: ByHeart recalled all of its infant formula in November 2025 after C. botulinum was confirmed in unopened cans, and that recall appears to still be in effect as of my last check. I’m not currently recommending ByHeart until the company can clearly show the issue is resolved. Before the recall, the biggest ingredient difference was that ByHeart used organic whole milk (similar to Bobbie’s Whole Milk formula) and added lactoferrin and alpha-lactalbumin.
Bobbie vs. Enfamil: Enfamil’s organic formula has been out of stock for extended periods with no clear return date, while Bobbie’s organic formulas are consistently available. Enfamil contains palm oil; Bobbie doesn’t. Enfamil organic has roughly a 20:80 whey-to-casein ratio, which is much further from breast milk than Bobbie’s 60:40.
Bobbie vs. Kendamil: Both are organic and available in US stores. Kendamil is made with whole milk and imported from the UK, while Bobbie is made domestically at its own facility.
