Are Rhino Horn Supplements Safe?

US government officials fear that men are putting their health – and, in some cases their lives, in danger. November 21 2025, the USA’s Food and Drug Administration issued a warning that mR.7 SUPER 7000 supplements have been safety tested, and found to contain hidden drug ingredients.

So what’s going on with ‘rhino horn’ supplements like mR.7 SUPER 7000?

Unapproved and Unsafe

Although you might see these pills on the shelves at gas stations, convenience stores and online, they have not been licensed for sale by any medical regulatory agency.

mr.7 SUPER 7000 is one of hundreds of fake rhino horn supplements being pushed as a natural, traditional sexual performance enhancer that you can take without seeing a doctor.

Why should you care? Well, because it’s not just snake oil.

If these supposed ‘sexual performance enhancers’ contained nothing but caffeine and fake rhino horn, consumers would feel let down that they’ve been scammed, but otherwise OK.

The problem with mR.7 SUPER 7000 is that they are lying about what the pills contain to avoid having to prove to drug safety agencies that their pills are safe and consistent. What’s more, they are also lying to you about what their magic ingredient is to cover for their lies – and in so, doing putting your health at risk and setting you up for future disappointments.

Does Rhino Horn Help Erectile Dysfunction?

The makers of these supplements claim that rhino horn is an ancient stimulant used in China for centuries to help men perform. They say that this magical ingredient can cure erectile dysfunction and act as an aphrodisiac.

In fact, rhino horn has no effect on male sexual function, and is not used to treat it in traditional Chinese medicine. By claiming that their supplements contain a hard to find, exotic sounding ingredient, they believe they can trick people into not questioning what is really in the pills.

What’s In The Box?

When the FDA performed laboratory tests to check whether the manufacturers of mR. 7 SUPER 7000 were being up front about their product, they discovered that the pills did not contain rhino horn. The active ingredients they found were far more concerning.

Testing showed that the performance pills actually contained both sildenafil and tadalafil. These are the active ingredients contained in drugs like Cialis and Viagra. What’s the problem with that you might ask? How many do you want?

Overdose is Easy

Firstly you don’t know how much of the active ingredient is in the pills. Not only that, but every pill could contain a different dose, depending on what comes to hand in the factory that day. There is no way of knowing! Taking three pills might have worked last week, but three pills this week from a different batch could send you to hospital.

An overdose of Viagra is no joke. Too much of the active ingredient can cause a huge blood pressure drop. This drop in blood pressure won’t just cause head aches, eye problems and lightheadedness, it can kill. There is also a small risk of priapism. Some men might find death preferable, as the treatment for an erection that won’t go away is very unpleasant indeed.

An even worse case scenario is that they run out of sildenafil and tadalafil. What’s in the capsule instead? FDA tests on regular unlicensed herbal supplements have detected all kinds of contaminants and fillers, including heavy metals and pesticides. In one case a factory accidentally substitued yellow oleander– a dangerous poison- in place of Brazil Seed.

Choose Your Poison

Secondly, even if the doses in these pills are safe and unadulterated, if you don’t know you are taking sildenafil and tadalafil, you can’t make an informed decision.

Taking either of these drugs alongside blood pressure meds (antihypertensives) can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure that can cause the same symptoms as an overdose – but without the relocation of blood to where you want it.

Even people who don’t have a heart condition or hypertension can be at risk. Recreational drugs like poppers can cause similar blood pressure drops and combining it with legitimately sourced Viagra or Cialis can cause an overdose.

Not So Cheap Thrills

Thirdly, this is just bad for your wallet. Talking to your GP about erectile dysfunction might be embarrassing for you, but trust us, your doctor won’t care. Even without insurance legal erectile dysfunction drugs are off patent and not that expensive any more. A quick google search shows that generic versions of Viagra can cost as little as $4 per dose.

If we want to keep going, consider the idea that these drugs create a mistaken demand for rhinoceros horns. The last thing you should want is to encourage poachers to attack these endangered animals to make expensive but ineffective medicines.

Next time you see the box on a shelf behind the store clerk, ask yourself, “Am I really the kind of guy who uses gas station Viagra?” Maybe opt for the oyster-bar next door instead.
