There’s still time to pull together a costume and make your spooky plans. Whether you’re dressing up as Life of a Showgirl or channeling your inner Wicked Witch, there’s plenty to look forward to.
If you’re in New York, there are tons of options like the annual Village Halloween Parade. Or take a walk through the Upper East Side to see the decked-out brownstones. Alternatively or additionally stop by the returning Black Lagoon pop-up at Someday Bar in Brooklyn, a spooky, immersive bar experience created by hospitality veterans Erin Hayes, a longtime Chicago bar pro, and Kelsey Ramage, a sommelier-turned-bartender from London. The pop-up bar celebrates the occult, the bizarre, and all things macabre.
But if you prefer a quieter night in, queue up a Halloween classic like Hocus Pocus, dim the lights, and mix up something deliciously dark. While a glass of wine always works, to really get into the spirit, try these Halloween cocktails featured at Black Lagoon: the Nocturna Colada, Griselda’s Revenge, Corpse Flower, and the spirit-free Death’s Door. The team behind the pop-up was kind enough to share their recipes. So now you can bring a little of that eerie magic home.
There’s the Nocturna Colada, a dark-rum based drink that mixes darkness with the tropics. Griselda’s Revenge, a herbal and effervescent, with a mix of gin, vermouth, mango liqueur, tarragon syrup, and lemon. While Corpse Flower shakes up tequila blanco, ube syrup, banana liqueur, lime, and sherry. And finally, Death’s Door, a spirit-free option for the sober-curious crowd.
Stay spooky, sip smart, and make your Halloween a bewitching work of art.
