Apples get all the attention in the fall, but pears deserve some love too! They’re a standout in Pear Upside Down Cake and Pear Walnut Salad, and they really shine in this Pear Martini. They’re paired with lemon juice for some acidity, agave for sweetness, and St. Germaine, which is what really makes this cocktail sing. Elderflower and pear are such a good match, with both having delicate, floral notes. This martini is a treat!

Why I Can’t Get Enough of This Pear Martini

It’s just SO GOOD. Here’s why I’ve been loving it and why you will too.

  • High-end taste. This pear martini tastes like something truly special thanks to that crisp, floral combination of pear and elderflower. You’ll feel like you’re at a trendy bar or restaurant, even if you’re sipping on it at home in your pajamas!
  • Versatile. Some martini recipes are tricky to pair with foods, but this pear martini could be served with a meal, appetizers, and it would even work as a brunch cocktail.
  • Easy to make. This isn’t a complicated cocktail! It has a short ingredient list and even if you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can use a jar.

What You’ll Need

Here’s what you’ll need to make this pear martini. Scroll down to the recipe card to find the ingredient quantities and recipe instructions.

  • Vodka – I use a mid-tier brand. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but you don’t want the cheapest either! This is a good rule of thumb whenever you’re buying alcohol for cocktails.
  • Pear puree or pear nectar – Use whichever you prefer; you can even use pear baby food for the puree!
  • Lemon juice – Freshly squeezed lemon juice has a brighter flavor than bottled.
  • St. Germaine – This is an elderflower liqueur, which has a light floral flavor.
  • Agave syrup – Or simple syrup, if you prefer.

How to Make a Pear Martini

Let’s get started! Here’s what you’ll need to do.

  • Chill the glasses. Fill them with ice and water.
  • Shake. Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Secure the lid and shake until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  • Serve. Pour the ice water out of the martini glasses, then strain the pear martini into the chilled glasses. Garnish with a slice of pear, if desired.

Make a Pitcher

If you want to make pear martinis for a crowd, you’ll have to make a few adjustments:

  • Scale up the ingredients based on how many martinis you’re making.
  • Mix all the ingredients in a pitcher.
  • Chill the pitcher. If you’d like or have room, you can also place the martini glasses in the fridge.
  • Pour the pre-mixed martini into chilled glasses and garnish.

Note that because the martinis aren’t shaken with ice, they will be a bit stronger. You can either go with the stronger martini (which is my choice!), serve it over ice, or add a bit of water or extra pear nectar to balance the booziness.
