Smartek by Nektium unveiled to help produce smarter formulations for botanicals

Nektium announced in a recent press release that the company has launched proprietary manufacturing technologies that will help produce their premium botanical extracts. The initiative is called Smartek by Nektium. The press release explained that Smartek is “a group of innovative delivery technologies designed to provide manufacturers with high-quality, science-backed ingredients that offer maximum value and ease of use in a wide range of formulations.”¹ The technologies combine delivery technologies that consist of controlled ionization, multi-stage microencapsulation, and molecular and matrix inclusion systems. The combinations will be decided for each botanical ingredient to help optimize efficacy, provide more neutral sensory characteristics, and strengthen physicochemical properties. Additionally, these technologies will help with maximizing the health benefits at the lowest possible dose, offer further versatility in formulation, which will help create new innovations in formats, for example beverages and gummies, and increase the ingredients shelf life.

According to the press release, Smartek has been integrated to help create various products in the company’s portfolio, such as¹:

Vanizem: A fast-acting mood- and sleep-enhancing extract of Aframomum melegueta (Grains of Paradise), which is extracted and processed using a patented, complex coacervation technology. This optimizes delivery at a low dose (100-150mg) by stabilizing the key bioactive vanilloid components.
Zynamite S: A fully water-soluble, neutral-taste, low-dose formulation of Nektium’s award-winning Zynamite nootropic for cognitive performance and non-stim mental energy, which taps into the growing demand for functional beverages.

Smartek is currently in production for upcoming additional product launches.

The raw ingredients utilized by Nektium are both sustainably sourced and are fully traceable. Additionally, their botanical extracts are produced in their state-of-the-art facility located in Spain, in compliance with regulatory requirements using food-grade and other processing steps that have been validated.¹ The company’s in-house laboratory uses plant identity and batch control procedures, such as Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) profiles and DNA barcode analysis.

Cognitive Health Improvement Shown in New Zynamite S Research

PLT Health Solutions, Inc. (PLT Health Solutions), and partner Nektium Pharma disclosed that a recent clinical study has been completed regarding their Zynamite S ingredient.² In the study, it explored the cognitive health benefits for Zynamite S, an extract derived from mango leaves.³

A study published in Pharmaceuticals in April 2025, had researchers analyze data from 119 participants. The subjects were split into three groups randomly with each group being provided a different treatment on each experimental day. One group was provided with a placebo, another group received 100 mg soluble Zynamite (Zyn-S 100), and the last group was given 150 mg of soluble Zynamite (Zyn-S 150).³ The press release mentioned that “The study showed that a single 100 mg dose of Zynamite S rapidly provided these benefits – some as soon as 30 minutes after supplementation.”²

In conclusion of the study, the study authors mentioned, “The results confirm that the acute administration of low doses (100 mg and 150 mg) of a soluble extract of Mangifera indica (60% mangiferin), known as Zynamite S, promoted significant improvements in cognitive function tasks related to selective attention, processing speed, and executive functions, with a dose response where 150 mg of Zynamite S yielded superior performance improvements, particularly in tasks requiring greater cognitive control and inhibition of automatic responses. Moreover, there was a notable reduction in negative emotional states, such as confusion and tension, with an overall positive impact on emotional well-being. These effects were most pronounced at 3 and 5 h post-intervention, suggesting a sustained duration of action.”³
